Former SISTAR member and soloist Soyou has captured public attention by showcasing a slim, toned figure after a successful weight loss journey.

Soyou recently posted two videos on her social media account with the caption, “Guess what I went to shoot.” In the clips, she is seen filming a commercial in a form-fitting outfit that highlights her lean yet defined physique. Her current appearance—reminiscent of her "peak era"—is particularly striking given her previous disclosure that she lost approximately 20 kg, dropping from 68 kg to 49 kg.

Earlier this month, Soyou appeared on the YouTube channel Alddaldalhan Chamgyeon to share the secrets behind her transformation. "My appetite decreased significantly when I switched to a low-carb, high-fat diet," she explained. She added that for over a year, she maintained her diet while still enjoying various foods, but emphasized portion control: "I eat everything, but very sparingly—like a little weasel."

Low-Carb, High-Fat and Mindful Eating for Satiety

Soyou’s approach to appetite suppression through a low-carb, high-fat (LCHF) diet is supported by nutritional science. Reducing carbohydrate intake helps prevent sharp spikes and subsequent crashes in blood sugar, which often trigger hunger. Furthermore, fats and proteins generally digest more slowly than carbohydrates, helping the body feel full for longer periods.

Beyond food composition, Soyou’s habit of eating "sparingly" aligns with the benefits of slowing one's eating pace. Taking smaller bites and chewing thoroughly allows sufficient time for satiety signals to travel from the stomach to the brain, naturally lowering the likelihood of overeating.

Managing Total Calories and Practical Habits

While Soyou noted that she did not strictly restrict the types of food she ate, experts warn that total caloric intake remains a critical factor. If the chosen foods are calorie-dense, a person can still exceed their daily energy requirements regardless of how slowly they eat. Therefore, building a habit of checking nutritional information before meals can be a helpful safeguard.

For those who find eating extremely slowly or taking tiny bites stressful, it is often better to implement gradual changes rather than strict rules. Using smaller plates or downsized utensils can be an effective way to reduce both portion sizes and eating speed without the mental strain of constant monitoring. Highlighting the importance of long-term sustainability, Soyou's journey demonstrates that consistent, mindful habits are the key to maintaining a healthy weight.
