Actress Jung Hye-young showcased her "muscle-rich" appearance through regular exercise.

Recently, Jung Hye-young appeared on the KBS2 variety show 'Pyeon Restaurant' with her husband, Sean, revealing their daily lives.

The couple alternated between cardio and strength training at the gym. Observing her perseverance through tough workouts, people exclaimed, "Are you preparing for a competition?"

As proof of her efforts, Jung Hye-young's muscles were visibly defined. It was hard to believe she was in her fifties, as she looked toned and slim without any excess fat. Through Jung Hye-young's daily life, we explore the importance of muscle mass as we age.

To Gain Less Weight While Eating the Same... The Key is 'Basal Metabolic Rate'

Some people gain weight easily even with a small amount of food, while others seem to eat a lot but remain slim. This is why you hear complaints like, "I gain weight just by drinking water." A primary reason for this difference is the 'basal metabolic rate.'

The basal metabolic rate is the basic energy required for the brain and organs to function even when a person is not active. In short, a higher basal metabolic rate means that even with low activity levels, the calories consumed do not accumulate as fat in the body.

The most representative way to increase the basal metabolic rate is to increase muscle mass. One kilogram of fat burns about 4-5 kcal per day, while one kilogram of muscle burns 13-15 kcal. Jung Hye-young stated about her management method, "I eat whatever I want and burn the calories through exercise."

After Exercise, "I Need Sugar..." Don't Fill Up with Sugar or Snacks

After exercising, Jung Hye-young said, "I urgently need sugar." She appeared a bit unsteady and dizzy. This phenomenon occurs because blood sugar and glycogen stored in muscles are used as energy sources during exercise.

However, one should not quickly consume simple sugars like candy or snacks. It's important to recharge energy with a proper combination of carbohydrates and proteins without causing a rapid spike in blood sugar.
