Singer and actor Noh Min-woo (39) revealed his skin care secrets.
Recently appearing on KBS 2TV ‘Immortal Songs’, Noh Min-woo was introduced as a frozen handsome man who has forgotten the years. The host, Shin Dong-yeop, mentioned, “He is serious about skin care and I understand that he hardly uses air conditioning or heaters even in the middle of summer or winter,” and added, “He reportedly has no salt at home due to his low-sodium diet to prevent swelling.”
When asked specifically about his skin care secrets, Noh Min-woo said, “I don’t use heaters or air conditioning much. When I sleep, I always attach a hot pack to the back of my neck,” and explained, “When I get home, I always wash my face and apply about 7 basic products. I make sure to go to the bathhouse at least once a week.”
Not Using Heaters and Air Conditioning Can Help Maintain Skin Moisture
By avoiding heaters and air conditioning like Noh Min-woo, the indoor air does not become dry, which helps keep the skin moist. However, if the indoor temperature is excessively low or high, it can reduce the quality of sleep and impair skin regeneration ability, so maintaining an appropriate temperature is necessary.
The habit of attaching a hot pack to the back of the neck while sleeping can help improve blood circulation, but it can also cause low-temperature burns, so caution is needed. Especially, the neck area, which has thinner skin, is more susceptible to irritation than the face, so care should be taken to ensure the hot pack does not directly touch the skin.
Using Too Many Basic Products Can Clog Pores
Applying multiple basic products after cleansing can be a double-edged sword depending on the skin condition. While it is positive in terms of sufficient hydration and nutrition supply, the more products there are, the greater the possibility of conflicts between ingredients or occlusion, leading to troubles, clogged pores, and contact dermatitis. If you have sensitive skin, it is safer to use only about 3 to 4 products.
Finally, the habit of using the bathhouse once a week can help with blood circulation and waste discharge. However, prolonged exposure to hot water or excessive scrubbing can damage the sebum and stratum corneum that make up the skin barrier, so caution is needed.
Meanwhile, the low-sodium diet that Noh Min-woo follows has a positive effect on the skin. Reducing sodium intake can alleviate swelling in the face and around the eyes, and reduce inflammatory responses, stabilizing skin tone. However, if no salt is consumed at all, it can lead to electrolyte imbalances causing muscle cramps, weakness, dizziness, low blood pressure, dehydration, and decreased concentration. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that healthy adults consume less than 2000mg (5g of salt) of sodium per day.
