Actress late Choi Jin-sil's daughter, influencer Choi Jun-hee (22), revealed her before and after diet photos.
Choi Jun-hee recently posted on SNS, "These days, there are so many ads claiming to gain and lose weight with AI (falsely). You know I'm real, right? I am someone with a definite past," sharing a video comparing her past heavier self and her current slim figure. She also posted a photo of a scale confirming her current weight of 41.8kg.
Choi Jun-hee has previously revealed that she suffered from lupus, an autoimmune disease, which caused her weight to increase to 96kg. Compared to that, she has lost about 54kg so far. Choi Jun-hee cited witch soup and regular weight measurement as her diet secrets. When she gained the most weight, she started with walking to avoid strain on her joints and did aerobic exercises.
Eating Witch Soup and Developing a Habit of Weighing Frequently
Choi Jun-hee said, "The most delicious, simple, and effective for weight loss is witch soup," and has posted a photo of the witch soup she made herself. Witch soup refers to a low-calorie vegetable soup made by boiling various vegetables and fruits such as carrots, celery, broccoli, and potatoes in water for a long time. Since most of the ingredients are vegetables and water, a bowl contains about 50-100kcal, which is very low. Additionally, the moisture and dietary fiber can provide a greater sense of fullness compared to solid foods with the same calories, which can help with weight loss. However, it is not a sustainable healthy diet method as it may lack essential nutrients like protein and fat.
Choi Jun-hee also mentioned that she kept three scales at home to check her weight frequently. In fact, continuously measuring weight allows for 'self-monitoring.' Self-monitoring is considered one of the key factors for successful weight loss in behavioral psychology. It helps regulate behavior while reminding oneself of their goals.
Aerobic exercise is the most effective representative exercise for reducing body fat as it consumes a lot of calories and increases the fat-burning rate. However, if, like Choi Jun-hee, you have gained too much weight and experience joint pain while running, it is advisable to start with walking or slow jogging to reduce strain on the joints.
Underweight, Known as 'Bone Thin,' Lowers Immunity and Weakens Bones
Being underweight, commonly referred to as 'bone thin,' is critical to health, so it is important to maintain an appropriate weight based on one's height. Underweight is defined as having a BMI (Body Mass Index) of less than 18.5.
People who are underweight are likely to be in a state of nutritional deficiency. When the body lacks nutrition, immune function decreases, increasing the risk of disease infection. Wound healing may be delayed, and fatigue or lethargy may increase. Bone density also decreases. This can lead to fractures even with minor impacts. For women, hormonal secretion issues may lead to menstrual cessation or increased chances of infertility.
According to research from the Department of Preventive Medicine at Seoul National University, the mortality risk for the underweight group is 1.9 times higher than that of the obese group. It is estimated that this is due to decreased recovery ability when experiencing chronic diseases or surgeries, and the lack of muscle and fat leads to impaired basic physiological functions such as immunity, hormones, and body temperature.
