Woo Chang-yoon, an endocrinologist who has emerged as a prominent voice behind the “natural Wegovy” diet trend, has explained the scientific rationale behind the approach and how to practice it effectively.

Appearing on KBS 2TV’s Problem Child in House, Woo discussed the role of GLP-1 and other appetite-regulating hormones in controlling hunger. “People say that when you take Wegovy, your snack cravings disappear like magic,” Woo said, explaining how hormonal signals govern satiety.

The “natural Wegovy” regimen he advocates pairs eggs—a source of protein and fat—with olive oil and black pepper. Woo explained that this combination stimulates the release of key hormones associated with fullness, helping to curb overall appetite.

However, Woo cautioned against relying exclusively on eggs for daily nutrition. When TV personality Kim Sook asked whether one should eat only eggs for all three meals, Woo replied, “If you eat it for every meal, you’ll quickly tire of it. You need to include dietary fiber as well.” Emphasizing the filling effect of eggs, he recommended eating them 20 to 30 minutes before a main meal to take the edge off hunger and prevent overeating.

How Eggs, Olive Oil, and Pepper Trigger Satiety

Eggs provide a balanced combination of protein and fat. One large egg contains roughly 6 to 7 grams of protein, while the yolk contains fat alongside essential nutrients such as choline and vitamins A and D. When digested protein and fat enter the small intestine, they stimulate the release of satiety-inducing hormones, including GLP-1, peptide YY (PYY), and cholecystokinin.

Drizzling approximately one teaspoon of olive oil over one or two boiled eggs adds healthy unsaturated fatty acids, extending the duration of fullness. A pinch of black pepper enhances the flavor of the eggs.

This hormonal signaling creates a sense of fullness and slows gastric emptying, delaying the return of hunger. Compared to refined carbohydrates such as bread or processed snacks, the fat-and-protein combination sustains satiety for longer periods. Consuming this snack prior to a main meal helps reduce total calorie intake, slows eating speed, and blunts post-meal blood sugar spikes.

Incorporating Dietary Fiber and Understanding Limits

Woo also highlighted the importance of dietary fiber, which is often underconsumed. Fiber requires more chewing, increases physical volume in the stomach, and is fermented by gut microbes into metabolic compounds that support fullness. He suggested combining eggs and olive oil with fiber-rich foods such as avocado, nuts, blueberries, cabbage, tomatoes, kale, or a small portion of multigrain rice containing oats and lentils.

Woo emphasized that while the dietary combination is helpful, "natural Wegovy" is not a direct replacement for prescription weight-loss medications. Wegovy’s active ingredient, semaglutide, is a synthetic peptide engineered to activate GLP-1 receptors over an extended period. In contrast, food triggers short-term, natural physiological signals. He also reminded viewers to use moderation with olive oil, as it remains a calorie-dense fat.
