YouTuber and broadcaster Pungja shared diet tips.

In a video posted on the YouTube channel ‘Pungja TV’ on the 5th, Pungja took time to read and respond to fans' concerns.

In the video, one fan shared, “I gained 10kg just a year after getting married. I’m 167cm and weigh 70kg, and I just think, ‘What does it matter what I wear, I’m fat anyway.’ My husband always says I look pretty, but I don’t feel that way. Please tell me how to maintain my self-esteem.”

In response, Pungja said, “The more you know about plus-size shopping malls, the worse it gets. Since there are clothes that fit anyway, you stop trying.” She added, “Don’t wear clothes with elastic bands or comfortable clothes. You’ll keep letting your guard down and eating.”

She continued, “Don’t adjust your body to oversized clothes. It feels good to wear clothes as you lose weight and your size changes. These days, I wear slim clothes instead of elastic pants, and it feels great when they fit.”

Pungja revealed her weight loss secret, saying, “I lost 27kg. To be exact, it’s about 26.5kg. I want to lose more by 2026 and challenge myself to a total of 30kg.” She advised, “Set small goals of losing 3-5kg a year. Don’t be greedy and try to lose 5kg a month.”

It’s Hard to Notice Weight Gain When Wearing Only Comfortable Clothes

As Pungja mentioned, wearing comfortable clothes that don’t cling to the body makes it difficult to feel weight changes. Even if there’s excess fat around the waist or abdomen, there’s little pressure or discomfort, which can reduce awareness of weight management.

On the other hand, insisting on wearing only overly tight clothes can also increase stress, so it’s not advisable. Therefore, it’s appropriate to wear comfortable clothes in daily life but to wear fitted clothes when going out to check for body shape changes.

Gradually Reducing Weight Lowers the Risk of Yo-Yo Effect

Setting a weight loss goal of about 3-5kg a year is a very wise method. This level of weight loss does not significantly harm the quality of daily life while allowing for gradual fat reduction.

Unlike rapid weight loss, the risk of muscle loss and the yo-yo effect is low, and it’s advantageous for establishing diet and exercise as a lifestyle. Most importantly, since the goal is not excessive, there’s less psychological burden, allowing for consistent progress without feelings of frustration from failure.

Pungja Successfully Lost Weight Through Long Periods of Fasting and Consistent Exercise

Meanwhile, Pungja has revealed the secrets behind her 27kg weight loss. She said, “I always keep my fasting time long,” adding, “During that time, I only drink water and eat whatever I want for one meal.” Regarding exercise, she mentioned, “I’m doing personal training and walking about 3-5km.”

In fact, when the fasting state is prolonged, the sugar available for energy decreases, so fatty acids are used as an energy source instead. This process leads to the burning of body fat. Additionally, various health indicators improve, reducing the risk of metabolic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and hyperlipidemia.

Pungja also incorporated exercise, as walking is an aerobic exercise that raises the heart rate. Especially, walking before meals has a good fat-burning effect, and walking after meals can help stabilize blood sugar levels. Walking quickly or on an incline can double the fat-burning effect.

Through personal training, she can do strength training. Combining aerobic exercise for more than 40 minutes, 3-4 times a week, with strength training 2-3 times a week is the most effective way to reduce body fat percentage and maintain metabolic rate. Moreover, as the basal metabolic rate increases, even if she eats the same amount of food, she can maintain or lose weight and prevent the yo-yo effect.
