Actress Moon Ga-young recently opened up about her essential morning ritual for filming days, demonstrating how even a brief, mindful workout can make a major difference in how she looks and feels on camera.

In a Q&A video featured on the Marie Claire Korea YouTube channel, Moon Ga-young was asked about her non-negotiable morning habits before a shoot.

"I absolutely have to wake up an hour and a half before my pickup time. Even if I haven't slept well, I hate rushing out the door. I need that time to get my mindset right," she shared. "If time permits, I also try to run on the treadmill for at least 10 to 20 minutes."

When asked about her personal goals before the end of the year, Moon Ga-young emphasized her commitment to wellness. "My goal is protecting my health. To do that, I'm cutting back on processed foods and trying to cook and eat at home as much as possible."

Moon Ga-young's dual approach—combining brief morning cardio with a whole-foods diet—offers notable physiological benefits for both cosmetic freshness and long-term metabolic health.

How a Quick Run De-puffs the Face and Ignites Fat Burn

Just 10 to 20 minutes on the treadmill, as Moon Ga-young practices, can dramatically reduce facial puffiness and leave you feeling lighter. Overnight, lying flat for hours causes fluid to pool in the facial tissues, frequently resulting in swollen eyelids and cheeks by morning.

Engaging the body's major muscle groups through a light jog stimulates the lymphatic system—the vital drainage network responsible for circulating lymph fluid and flushing out cellular waste products. As lymphatic flow accelerates, excess facial fluid drains, quickly revealing a more sculpted jawline and defined eyes. Additionally, morning exercise stimulates gastrointestinal motility, helping to relieve bloating and sluggishness.

Performing this light cardio in a fasted state—before eating breakfast—can also optimize fat burning. When fasting, the body's glycogen stores are low, forcing it to prioritize stored body fat for fuel. However, because fasted workouts can occasionally induce mild dizziness, experts recommend keeping them short and gentle, aligning perfectly with Moon Ga-young's quick 10-to-20-minute window.

Ditching Processed Foods for a Lean Physique and Clear Skin

Limiting processed foods in favor of home-cooked meals is equally powerful for managing weight and maintaining a clear complexion.

Ultra-processed items like instant noodles (ramyeon), packaged snacks, and convenience meals are calorically dense but nutritionally sparse. Packed with high levels of sodium and refined sugars, they easily trigger weight gain. Clinical research supports this: one notable study revealed that even when diets were matched for identical macronutrient ratios, participants on an ultra-processed diet consumed roughly 500 more calories per day than those eating whole foods, resulting in measurable weight gain in just two weeks.

Steering clear of heavily processed foods also directly benefits the skin. High-sodium meals cause the body to retain water, contributing to morning facial swelling. Meanwhile, high-glycemic sugary foods cause rapid spikes in blood glucose, triggering inflammatory cascades that frequently manifest as acne and other skin blemishes.

By combining brief morning movement with a clean, whole-food diet, Moon Ga-young demonstrates a realistic and highly effective approach to staying camera-ready and vibrantly healthy.
