However, it is known that Hong Hyun-hee did not follow a starving diet. Let’s take a look at her diet secret, which she says is "serious about blood sugar management."

Managed Blood Sugar Through Lifestyle Habits... “Lost 10kg”

Hong Hyun-hee previously revealed on her YouTube channel ‘Hong Hyun-hee and Jay Seon’s Hong Seon TV’ that "I lost weight by managing my blood sugar through lifestyle habits." Her weight was also about 10kg less than before blood sugar management, at 49.97kg.

To manage her blood sugar, she practiced maintaining a long fasting period, consuming good oils on an empty stomach in the morning, and eating vegetables before meals. She also showed a light walk or stroll after eating a lot on another show.

Why Do We Gain Weight When Blood Sugar Fluctuates?

When we eat, blood sugar naturally rises. Therefore, there is no need to be overly sensitive about the rise in blood sugar after eating. However, if one frequently consumes foods high in sugars and refined carbohydrates, leading to rapid spikes in blood sugar, it becomes a problem.

When blood sugar levels rise, our body secretes insulin. Insulin sends blood sugar to the cells, and the remaining energy is stored as fat. However, if blood sugar spikes rapidly, insulin secretion also increases. This means that more energy can be stored as fat.

Rapid spikes and then drops in blood sugar are also problematic. If blood sugar drops sharply, our brain may perceive it as a lack of energy. This can lead to feelings of hunger again, which can cause binge eating and yo-yo dieting. Conversely, if blood sugar is managed stably, binge eating and late-night snacking can decrease, and our body can change to a type that burns fat well.

What Are the Benefits of Pre- and Post-Meal Management?

Consuming a moderate amount of good oils rich in unsaturated fatty acids on an empty stomach in the morning increases satiety without significantly raising blood sugar. The habit of eating vegetables first before meals supplies dietary fiber, helping to create a feeling of fullness and effectively slowing the rise in blood sugar.

A 20-30 minute walk or light stroll after meals is good for blood sugar management. Typically, blood sugar reaches its peak level 30-60 minutes after eating. Therefore, there is research suggesting that moving muscles to consume glucose before blood sugar levels peak can prevent blood sugar from rising too high. However, be careful not to run too fast or engage in intense exercise, as it may interfere with digestion.
