On the 5th (local time), Celltrion announced on the 6th that it held an opening ceremony at its production facility located in Branchburg, New Jersey, USA.
This opening ceremony is the first official event held after Celltrion completed the acquisition of the Branchburg facility at the end of last year, and it was organized to announce that the facility has officially begun operations as a key outpost for global production.
Attendees included Congressman Andy Kim, Congressman Thomas Kean Jr., Mayor Thomas Young of Branchburg Township, local dignitaries, and Celltrion executives. Congressman Kean even brought and presented an American flag.
Chairman Seo stated, “We will expand the Branchburg production facility into a comprehensive contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) base, including a research center, making it a major pillar of Celltrion's global growth alongside our headquarters in Songdo.”
Chairman Seo officially appointed Todd Wing as the new CEO of Celltrion Branchburg.
With this opening, Celltrion has proactively resolved tariff risks and established a stable production and supply system in the United States, thereby significantly enhancing its global production network capabilities.
In particular, by acquiring the excellent pharmaceutical manufacturing and current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) facility previously operated by Eli Lilly, it minimized the opportunity costs and risks associated with securing a new base.
Additionally, by finalizing a contract manufacturing organization (CMO) agreement for biopharmaceutical raw materials (DS) with Eli Lilly and ensuring the employment succession of local skilled personnel, production continuity and operational stability were secured immediately after the acquisition.
A Celltrion official stated, “The opening of the Branchburg production facility will be a significant turning point that goes beyond simply securing a production base in the United States, as it will enhance the global production and supply system.”
