Singer Jeon Somi recently shared vacation photos on social media, drawing attention with her slim yet toned physique in a one-piece swimsuit by an outdoor pool.

Jeon has previously revealed that she maintains her health and figure by practicing Pilates two to three times a week. Pilates strengthens key core muscles in the back and abdomen while improving posture and alignment. The discipline’s emphasis on proper diaphragmatic breathing also helps increase metabolic activity and support body fat reduction.

Sculpting Core Muscles with Specialized Equipment

Equipment-based Pilates plays a major role in developing a firm, balanced physique. The reformer, an apparatus shown in Jeon’s workout posts, utilizes spring-based resistance to engage core, upper-body, and lower-body muscles simultaneously. It specifically activates deep stabilizing muscles, helping firm the abdomen and streamline the waistline.

Similarly, the Cadillac system supports hanging movements that stimulate both the internal and external obliques as well as pelvic muscles. Lifting or holding the upper and lower body against gravitational resistance adds intensity, helping tighten and refine body contours.

Warm-ups and Proper Technique Prevent Injury

While effective, equipment Pilates requires careful attention to form. Improper resistance settings on the reformer can place undue strain on the lower back, while insufficient flexibility on the Cadillac can cause over-arching of the spine.

To avoid injury, individuals should perform thorough stretching and warm-up routines before exercising to loosen muscles and joints. Those with a history of joint pain or recent surgery should consult a physician prior to starting a new regimen, and exercise should be discontinued immediately if pain or discomfort arises.
