Actress Cha Ye-ryun recently shared the exact diet meals her husband, actor Joo Sang-uk, consumed while preparing for a television role.

On the 15th, Cha uploaded a video to her YouTube channel titled “Three Super-Simple Diet Recipes from Cha Ye-ryun for Losing Weight While Eating Delicious Food.” In the video, she demonstrated how to make a cabbage tortilla pizza, a Greek yogurt bowl, and a fresh chicken breast salad, describing them as an enjoyable way to manage weight without sacrificing taste.

The chicken breast salad generated significant viewer interest. Rather than using pre-packaged, commercially processed chicken breasts, Cha opted for fresh meat. “I slice the cabbage ahead of time and cook fresh chicken breast in olive oil,” she explained. “Commercial chicken breast products are convenient and come in various pre-seasoned flavors, but I prefer seasoning raw chicken breast simply with a touch of salt.”

Her assembly method was straightforward: she layered baby greens over pre-sliced cabbage, topped the greens with sliced grilled chicken breast and a soft-boiled egg, and finished the dish with a generous splash of white balsamic vinegar. “If you add brown rice to this, it becomes a poke bowl,” Cha noted. The production crew praised the dish’s clean, satisfying flavor, commenting that it satisfied cravings for richer food.

“This is what Joo Sang-uk ate for four months,” Cha revealed, explaining that her husband adhered to this meal plan while playing villain Ju Gang-chan in the SBS drama Agent Kim Reactivated. Joo recently drew widespread attention online after appearing shirtless in a sauna scene, displaying a lean physique with virtually no excess body fat.

Chicken breast is a premier protein source containing all eight essential amino acids, making it a foundational ingredient in weight-management diets. As the leanest part of the chicken, a 100-gram serving delivers 23 to 25 grams of protein while containing relatively few calories, at roughly 102 kcal.

When incorporating chicken breast into a diet, grilling fresh meat at home offers distinct nutritional advantages over pre-packaged, pre-sauced products. Commercial varieties frequently contain substantial amounts of added sugars and sodium, along with food additives, preservatives such as sodium nitrite, and thickening agents introduced during processing.

White Balsamic Vinegar Adds Flavor While Helping Regulate Post-Meal Blood Sugar

While traditional balsamic vinegar features a deep dark tint, white balsamic has emerged as a popular alternative. Produced by concentrating grape juice at low temperatures to prevent browning, white balsamic offers a lighter color and a brighter, fruitier flavor profile that complements salads, fruits, desserts, and sparkling beverages.

From a metabolic standpoint, the acetic acid in balsamic vinegar slows the digestion of carbohydrates and delays glucose absorption in the gut. Consequently, it can help blunt sharp spikes in blood sugar following a meal. Consuming vinegar before dining also stimulates gastric acid secretion and digestive enzymes, aiding overall digestion and supporting intestinal health.

However, given its high acidity, balsamic vinegar should be consumed in moderation. Drinking large quantities undiluted or consuming it on an empty stomach can irritate the stomach lining, leading to heartburn, abdominal pain, and acid reflux.
