Comedian Ahn Young-mi (44) is pregnant with her second child.
Recently on MBC Radio's 'Two O'Clock Date with Ahn Young-mi', Ahn Young-mi confessed her pregnancy. Ahn Young-mi said, "Listeners have been saying since last week that something felt off, and they were right," and added, "I am pregnant."
Ahn Young-mi, who is currently in her second trimester, stated, "Since I am considered a high-risk pregnancy, I have been holding back my words out of caution," and shared, "Although my first child was also a high-risk pregnancy, this time it is definitely a high-risk pregnancy, and I feel like I am walking a tightrope every day."
Ahn Young-mi remarked, "How unjust it was when health rumors arose after eating 'Duchonku'," and said, "Everyone asked why I looked so thin, but I was actually in good shape elsewhere." Previously, after releasing a video of herself eating chewy cookies from Dubai on the 19th of last month, she was engulfed in health rumors and clarified, "I am healthy."
If it's a high-risk pregnancy, you must maintain a healthy lifestyle
The term high-risk pregnancy mentioned by Ahn Young-mi refers to women over the age of 35 giving birth. It is also known as advanced maternal age. As women age, the functions of reproductive organs such as ovaries and the uterus decline.
It is known that women over 35 have more than double the risk of giving birth to a child with congenital disabilities compared to mothers who are not of advanced maternal age. For this reason, as marriage ages have been delayed recently, many women are opting for egg freezing procedures to collect and freeze healthy eggs before the age of 35.
If considering late pregnancy, it is particularly important to maintain a healthy lifestyle. First, as age increases, eggs can become more vulnerable to oxidative stress. Therefore, it is necessary to regularly consume foods rich in antioxidants. Oxidative stress is a phenomenon where harmful substances like reactive oxygen species damage cells and tissues, promoting inflammation and aging. The more severe the damage, the lower the quality of the eggs.
What foods are good to eat often?
Vitamins C and E, as well as selenium, act as powerful antioxidants. They are abundant in blueberries, spinach, tomatoes, strawberries, and nuts. While consuming specific foods is good, making an effort to eat seasonal fruits and vegetables daily can easily supplement these nutrients. Foods rich in unsaturated fatty acids, such as plant oils, mackerel, or salmon, also help prevent aging.
Regular exercise is also important. Obesity disrupts female hormones, leading to ovulation disorders. It not only negatively affects pregnancy but also increases the risk of miscarriage. Attention to reproductive health is also necessary. Common diseases in women, if left untreated, can lead to infertility. Vaginitis, which occurs when fungi or viruses proliferate in the vagina, is not a fatal disease but can hinder pregnancy. High-risk pregnancies also increase the risk of gestational diabetes, so it is essential to manage blood sugar levels regularly.
