Sore-throat spray "Mok-Anne" and artificial tear formula "Nun-Anne"—two familiar over-the-counter (OTC) products in South Korea—now have a unified brand face.

Hanmi Science, the holding company of Hanmi Group, announced on the 14th that it has developed "Anne," an official mascot representing Hanmi Pharmaceutical's OTC line known as the "Anne Series." The launch marks the company's first step toward establishing a cohesive, unified brand identity across its consumer health portfolio.

An Eight-Product OTC Lineup Inspired by Classic Literature

The Anne Series encompasses eight everyday pharmaceutical products: sore-throat treatment Mok-Anne; artificial tears Nun-Anne, Nun-Anne Cool, and Nun-Anne Q; nasal moisturizing agent Ko-Anne; nasal decongestants Ko-Anne Cool and Ko-Anne Cool S; and seborrheic dermatitis treatment Dupi-Anne.

The finalized character features rosy cheeks, red hair braided into pigtails, and a straw hat, closely evoking the protagonist of the 1979 animated television adaptation of Anne of Green Gables. Based on Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery's classic novel, the story of the imaginative, spirited orphan Anne has remained widely beloved in South Korea across generations. The character brings a friendly, approachable image to the typically conservative pharmaceutical category, deriving her name directly from the shared suffix of the product line.

Employee-Selected Mascot to Drive Unified Marketing

The mascot was chosen through an internal review process and a company-wide vote conducted last summer. More than 500 employees across Hanmi Group affiliates—including Hanmi Science, Hanmi Pharmaceutical, OnlinePharm, Hanmi Fine Chemical, and JVM—voted on four character concepts before incorporating expert design advice to finalize the look.

Hanmi Pharmaceutical plans to feature "Anne" prominently across product packaging, in-pharmacy point-of-sale displays, social media campaigns, and print advertisements to build brand recognition for the product family.

"The 'Anne' character expresses the friendliness and reliability of the Anne Series through a single, consistent narrative world," a Hanmi Group official said. "We will continue strengthening our brand identity so consumers feel an even greater sense of familiarity with our OTC line through diverse marketing content."
