Actress Kim Sa-rang, 48, has drawn attention by showcasing her toned physique and slender legs.

Kim recently shared photos on social media, including one where she is reclining on a sun lounger in a leopard-print swimsuit draped with a striped robe. Her trim figure and long legs, visible beneath the open robe, quickly caught fans' attention.

Kim, whose youthful figure belies her age, reportedly maintains her body by weighing herself every single day. “I take off everything to get an accurate weight,” she once revealed. “Weighing myself daily keeps me on my toes and naturally curbs my appetite.”

A scale as a tool for tracking dietary progress

What impact does daily weighing have on body management? A scale can serve as more than just a tool for checking a number; it functions as an objective gauge of diet and exercise progress.

Tracking daily measurements allows individuals to identify which dietary habits and workout routines yield real results. It also helps detect upward weight trends early, enabling timely adjustments before significant weight gain occurs.

Studies link daily weigh-ins to improved weight loss and retention

Multiple studies confirm that frequent self-weighing supports weight loss efforts. A research team that included scholars from Cornell University studied 162 adults with obesity, dividing them into a group that weighed and recorded their weight daily and a group that did not. Over the first year, the daily weigh-in group lost an average of 5.9 kg, compared to 4.4 kg in the control group.

During a second-year follow-up, the daily weigh-in group showed virtually no weight regain, demonstrating the long-term effectiveness of the habit. Researchers concluded that daily tracking encourages positive behavioral shifts in physical activity and helps prevent weight regain.

Another study showed that individuals who weighed themselves daily lost about 6 kg more over six months than those who weighed in less frequently. Additionally, large-scale research indicates that regular weigh-ins boost self-control, whereas stopping daily weigh-ins is associated with increased caloric intake and reduced dietary restraint.

Focus on long-term trends rather than daily fluctuations

Even with daily weigh-ins, experts advise against fixating on minor day-to-day fluctuations. A slight uptick in weight from the previous day rarely signifies an increase in body fat; instead, temporary fluid retention or digestive contents are usually responsible. Rather than letting daily numbers dictate mood or stress levels, it is far better to evaluate weekly or monthly averages and broader trends.

Furthermore, if checking the scale induces anxiety, stress, or unhealthy dietary restriction, reducing the frequency of weigh-ins is recommended. Sustainable health management should prioritize balanced nutrition, regular exercise, and adequate sleep above all.
