Dongkook Pharmaceutical announced on Sept. 16 that it has launched a new television commercial for its over-the-counter hair-loss treatment Pansidil, featuring actor Ha Seok-jin alongside long-standing brand model and broadcaster Kim Sung-joo. Framed around a talk concert where audience members share personal hair-loss worries, the campaign urges consumers to take proactive action at the first sign of thinning hair rather than ignoring early symptoms.
In the commercial, Kim and Ha invite audience members to check their own hair texture and density, delivering the campaign's core message: "When your hair begins to thin—that's when to start with Pansidil." The ad highlights how a medicinal-yeast complex nourishes hair-root cells to strengthen strands from the base. Dongkook officials noted that Ha was selected following his strong performance as the lead in the weekend drama Love Is Coming, which recently reached a nationwide rating of 17.3% according to Nielsen Korea.
Most Consumers Rely on Shampoo Despite Low Clinical Impact
Despite the importance of early intervention, real-world consumer habits fall short of medical recommendations. According to a consumer survey conducted by Dongkook Pharmaceutical last year, 63% of respondents experiencing hair-loss symptoms relied solely on functional shampoos, while 25% took no action at all. Only 11% chose medications with clinically proven efficacy.
Dermatology experts caution that delaying treatment allows hair follicle function to decline further, making subsequent recovery significantly harder and underscoring the need to address early symptoms with effective therapies.
Nutritional Mechanism and Clinical Results for Diffuse Hair Loss
Pansidil is an over-the-counter medication formulated with six essential nutrients for hair growth, including medicinal yeast, vitamins, and key structural proteins like keratin and L-cystine. Supplied via the bloodstream directly to hair-root tissues, these nutrients help thicken strands and reduce hair loss, making the treatment particularly suitable for diffuse hair loss triggered by stress, fatigue, nutritional imbalance, or rapid weight loss.
A domestic clinical trial evaluating the medicinal-yeast complex found that 79% of participants taking the formulation developed thicker hair. Furthermore, hair shedding decreased by 45%, while total hair count increased by 12%. Available without a prescription at local pharmacies, Pansidil is recommended to be taken consistently—one capsule three times daily—for three to six months for optimal results.
