SCL Group, a comprehensive healthcare solutions company led by Chairman Lee Kyung-ryul, is set to establish a strategic partnership with Indonesia’s premier national hospital, accelerating the expansion of the Korean medical system into Southeast Asia.
On April 23, SCL Group announced that it will sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM)—a national hospital affiliated with the Indonesian Ministry of Health—on April 27 in Jakarta. The partnership aims to transfer advanced technologies in precision diagnostics and preventive medicine to RSCM, which serves more than 1 million patients annually, to modernize local medical services.
Strategic Cooperation in Precision Medicine
Under the agreement, the two organizations will prioritize cooperation and exchanges in several key areas:
Precision Diagnostics: Implementation of early multi-cancer screening and genetic testing.
AI Solutions: Deployment of AI-based early-detection systems.
Infrastructure Sharing: Joint utilization of medical imaging equipment, such as MRI and CT scanners.
Regional Growth: Development of mid- to long-term business models involving laboratory services and K-Healthcare IT platforms.
With the largest population in Southeast Asia, Indonesia is regarded as a high-growth market for preventive medicine and precision diagnostics as healthcare demand continues to rise.
Building a Southeast Asian Hub
"Indonesia is a key hub for entering the Southeast Asian healthcare market," said Lee Kyung-ryul, Chairman of SCL Group. "By leveraging our extensive capabilities in diagnostic testing and health screenings, we will strengthen our cooperation with local institutions and expand the K-Healthcare model."
SCL Group has already established a firm foothold in the region. In July 2023, the group launched its local subsidiary, SCL Hanaro Indonesia (SHI). Since then, the Hanaro Medical Foundation has further strengthened its presence by directly operating K-LAB, a specialized local health screening center.
