The Jeonghwa Medical Foundation’s Bongsaeng Healing Hospital, led by Director Choi Yong-seok, has been officially designated as a ‘3rd Phase Rehabilitation Medical Institution’ by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. This prestigious status confirms the hospital’s expertise in minimizing patient disabilities and facilitating a swift return to society through intensive, government-recognized recovery protocols.
The designation is granted only to facilities that meet stringent criteria regarding specialized medical staff—including rehabilitation specialists, nurses, and physical and occupational therapists—as well as high-standard equipment and specific patient composition ratios. Bongsaeng Healing Hospital received high marks during its evaluation for its multidisciplinary collaboration system and patient-centered environment, which features state-of-the-art rehabilitation robots and specialized exercise therapy suites.
Intensive, Customized Care for the Recovery Phase
Opened in December 2023 in Gamman-dong, Busan, the hospital has quickly solidified its reputation as a premier recovery center. This new Ministry designation, which remains valid until February 2029, follows the hospital's successful certification by the Medical Institution Evaluation and Certification Institute last year.
For patients recovering from strokes, spinal cord injuries, fractures, or hip replacements after acute care, Bongsaeng Healing Hospital provides:

To support these high-level services, the Ministry of Health and Welfare provides financial backing through "customized rehabilitation fees." This system allows patients to receive focused treatment in 15-minute intervals, reducing the financial and physical burden of long-term hospitalization while enabling home-visit rehabilitation for those requiring follow-up care.
A New Rehabilitation Hub for the Busan Region
On February 20, the Ministry of Health and Welfare designated 71 institutions nationwide for this third phase, an increase from the 53 locations in the previous cycle. In the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam area, Bongsaeng Healing Hospital is one of 12 designated facilities, joining newly selected peers such as Barun Hospital in Gyeongnam and Buk Ulsan Hospital in Ulsan.
