Celltrion announced on the 4th that its chronic spontaneous urticaria and allergic asthma treatment, 'Omrilclo (Omaliizumab)', is estimated to have captured over 60% of the local Omaliizumab market as of the end of last year.
Celltrion's Spanish subsidiary has been successfully expanding its market presence since launching Omrilclo through direct sales in September last year, winning public bids at the state and regional levels and supplying individual hospitals.
At the end of last year, it was selected as the top supplier in a public bid in the Catalonia region, achieving its first bidding success. Catalonia is the region where Barcelona, the representative city of Spain, is located, known for its high population density and considered the largest supply area for Omaliizumab locally. Additionally, it was also selected as the top company in all public healthcare institution supply bids in the Basque Country region, completing a supply contract in January this year.
Omrilclo is currently being prescribed in approximately 260 public and private hospitals across Spain.
Omrilclo features a 150 mg auto-injector formulation that is not available in the original, providing a complete lineup of all subcutaneous (SC) formulations, including pre-filled syringes. Celltrion explained that it also differs from the original in that patient reimbursement is possible for indications of chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps.
Seok-hoon Kang, head of Celltrion Spain, stated, "In addition to its first-mover status, Omrilclo is rapidly expanding its influence in the Spanish Omaliizumab market based on supply stability and differentiated competitiveness, contributing to improving patient access to treatment."
