Samsung Medical Center announced on the 4th that it has obtained certification in all digital maturity models organized by the American Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS). This is the first of its kind among medical institutions worldwide.
Samsung Medical Center has received the 6-stage certification for HIMSS's 'Continuity of Care Maturity Model (CCMM)'. This certification evaluates how safely and freely medical information flows between hospitals and between hospitals and patients. Certification is issued after assessing whether patients can receive uninterrupted care when needed.
During the assessment conducted last month, HIMSS focused on the information sharing and referral/tracking management systems between Samsung Medical Center and its partner medical institutions. As a result, the stable establishment of a bidirectional medical delivery system with primary and secondary medical institutions was highly praised. Additionally, the integration of continuous glucose monitors and smartwatch heart rate/sleep data directly into the hospital's electronic medical records (EMR) via patients' smartphones, allowing medical staff to check patients' health status in real-time, also received positive feedback.
Accordingly, Samsung Medical Center has obtained its fifth HIMSS certification, following certifications for △medical IT infrastructure standards △electronic medical record systems △digital imaging treatment systems △medical data analysis systems. The hospital interprets this certification as a signal marking the completion of the digital healthcare ecosystem.
Lee Poong-ryul, head of the Digital Innovation Promotion Team at Samsung Medical Center, stated, "This certification signifies that our patient-centered digital healthcare system has received international recognition beyond mere technological validation," and added, "We will provide better patient experiences and continuity of care in the future."
