Actress Lee Chung-ah confessed that she has been suffering from hip pain after a car accident.
Lee Chung-ah mentioned the car accident that occurred in August of last year while appearing on the YouTube channel 'Yoo Yeon-seok's Weekend Theater'.
The area Lee Chung-ah was injured in during the accident was her 'hip'. Although she experienced pain, she did not receive proper treatment. This was because she had no time to rest as filming for a drama began. As her treatment was delayed due to the filming schedule, Lee Chung-ah had to endure pain for a long time.
Through Lee Chung-ah's case, we examine the necessity of prompt treatment and how important the hip joint is in our body.
Delayed Treatment Leads to Severe Pain... Treatment Recommended Within a Week
If a car accident occurs, it is safest to receive examination and treatment immediately after the accident. Even if the pain is not severe, it is recommended to visit a hospital for an examination within a week. Even if there are no visible injuries, microfractures or hip dislocations may not cause severe initial pain but can gradually intensify.
Lee Chung-ah stated, "Missing the golden time for treatment caused the pain to radiate to my back and neck," and added, "Since I was lacking sleep due to filming, the time to recover passed, but I did not get better." She continued, "It seemed okay at times, but the pain kept coming back, which was frustrating. I wondered how the hip joint could hurt this much," she expressed.
Hip Injuries Leading to Long-term Treatment... Important for Body Balance
The hip joint connects the thigh and pelvis. This area is intertwined with muscles, ligaments, cartilage, bones, and nerves, so caution is required. If the treatment timing is missed, inflammation and swelling can occur, leading to cartilage wear and muscle stiffness.
If this condition persists, chronic hip pain and walking disabilities may occur. In such cases, the effectiveness of medication decreases, and physical therapy takes longer. Lee Chung-ah shared, "It was only after I was in pain that I realized the hip joint is connected to various areas and supports the body's balance."
To maintain hip health, it is better to use products that absorb shock rather than shoes with little cushioning. It is also recommended to replace old sneakers that have lost their shock-absorbing function. Additionally, one should avoid the habit of standing for long periods on hard floors. If there is a sharp pain in the groin area or pain is felt when sitting down and getting up, it may be an early sign of hip joint disease.
