ABL Bio announced on the 11th that it published a review paper on the next-generation immune-oncology dual antibody ‘4-1BB’ in the online edition of the international journal 《monoclonal antibodies (mAbs)》. mAbs is a journal that deals with antibody research and development.
According to ABL Bio, the title of the newly released paper is ‘Expanding the Horizons of Cancer Treatment through Next-Generation 4-1BB Antibodies: A Review of Molecular and Clinical Strategies for Maximizing Efficacy and Ensuring Safety.’ It mentions the characteristics of the 4-1BB dual antibody that induce immune activation of T cells in the tumor microenvironment and its long-term anti-cancer maintenance efficacy.
Currently, ABL Bio has named its 4-1BB-based dual antibody platform ‘Grabody-T’ and is developing various immune-oncology drug candidates. For example, the company is continuing its efforts to develop ‘ABL111 (Givastomab)’ and ‘Opdivo (ingredient name Nivolumab)’ as a first-line treatment for metastatic gastric cancer in a triple combination therapy with chemotherapy.
Lee Sang-hoon, CEO of ABL Bio, stated, “ABL Bio developed Grabody-T to overcome the limitations of existing 4-1BB monoclonal antibodies through a dual antibody approach that selectively activates T cells only in the tumor microenvironment,” and added, “The combination therapy related to ABL111 showed superior anti-cancer efficacy compared to existing standard therapies in clinical phase 1b, demonstrating its potential as ‘best in class.’”
