Kangstem Biotech, 'Skin Organoid Source Technology' Registered Patent in Japan

Kangstem Biotech's technology related to skin organoids has been granted a patent in Japan.

According to Kangstem Biotech on the 7th, the 'Air-Liquid Interface (ALI) Cultured Skin Organoid and Technology for Creating Atopic Dermatitis Models Using It' has successfully registered a patent in Japan following Korea and Australia. Patent examinations related to this technology are also underway in the United States, Europe, and China.

This technology helps ensure that excessive cartilage tissue is not formed during the differentiation process of skin organoids by utilizing ALI, allowing them to maintain a flat shape identical to real skin.

Kangstem Biotech anticipates that its advanced skin organoid-based disease model creation technology can establish itself as an alternative platform to replace animal testing. The company has built an integrated platform capable of evaluating the functions and efficacy of various skin and hair-related candidate substances, including anti-aging, wrinkle improvement, hair loss, whitening, and atopic dermatitis, based on the recently registered source technology patent.

A representative from Kangstem Biotech stated, "The registration of this patent in Japan signifies that the novelty and advancement of the technology have been officially recognized at an international level," and added, "Given that Japan is a key market that facilitates overseas business expansion in the fields of regenerative medicine and functional cosmetics due to its geographical and regulatory advantages, this will serve as an important strategic foundation for our global business expansion."
