Yuhan Corp. announced on Aug. 31 that it will launch "Yuhan Chondroitin 1200," a liquid joint and cartilage health functional food, on Sept. 1.
Unlike conventional tablets or capsules that require taking multiple pills in divided doses, the new product comes in a convenient, single-dose liquid stick format designed to eliminate the burden of swallowing pills.
The product utilizes sodium chondroitin sulfate, an individually recognized functional ingredient approved by South Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (Approval No. 2025-63) with the authorized functional claim, "May help support joint and cartilage health." Each daily serving provides 1,140 mg of sodium chondroitin sulfate, aligning with the 1,200 mg daily reference intake established by the ministry upon the ingredient's recognition in November 2025.
Pure Ingredient Standards and Proven Clinical Efficacy
In the joint supplement market, product labeling can often confuse consumers. While many notified products use "mucopolysaccharide-protein" as a raw material and include protein in the total labeled quantity—resulting in pure chondroitin sulfate levels as low as 10% to 50%—Yuhan Chondroitin 1200 uses an individually recognized functional ingredient with defined purity.
The functionality of the active ingredient was verified through a 90-day, placebo-controlled human trial conducted in South Korea involving 150 adults experiencing knee joint pain. Participants in the trial demonstrated statistically significant improvements in joint pain, stiffness, and walking function starting on day 30 of intake compared to the placebo group. No adverse events were reported during the study.
Each 10-gram liquid stick contains 10 calories and is formulated with concentrated extracts of traditional Korean ssanghwa and reishi mushroom to provide a pleasant herbal beverage taste. In addition to sodium chondroitin sulfate, the product is enriched with hyaluronic acid, Boswellia extract, fish collagen, essential vitamins, and minerals.
"Because joint health supplements utilize so many different raw materials, consumers often find it challenging to compare clinical evidence and actual active content," a Yuhan Corp. official said. "Yuhan Chondroitin 1200 delivers the full daily intake requirement while significantly enhancing user convenience."
