Biopharmaceutical company Celltrion announced on Aug. 27 that combined first-half sales of its subcutaneous infliximab products—Remsima SC and Zymfentra—totaled 456.2 billion won.

Remsima (active ingredient: infliximab) is Celltrion’s flagship biosimilar treatment for autoimmune diseases, developed as a biosimilar to Johnson & Johnson’s Remicade. Its subcutaneous injection formulation, Remsima SC, was developed in-house to allow convenient patient self-administration and has driven steady revenue growth in Europe and other international markets.

Remsima SC Maintains Steady Growth Led by European Market

Celltrion reported that global sales of Remsima SC—excluding the U.S.—reached 356.7 billion won in the first half of the year, a 20.3% increase from the same period last year.

Europe remained the primary growth driver. As of the first quarter, Remsima SC captured a 32% market share across Europe’s top five major markets: Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom, Italy, and France. In Germany, the product reached a 49% market share, meaning nearly half of all patients receiving infliximab therapy were prescribed Remsima SC.

Industry observers attribute the growth to Celltrion’s dual-formulation strategy. By offering both intravenous (Remsima) and subcutaneous (Remsima SC) options, clinicians can select the administration method best suited to a patient’s medical condition or treatment environment, allowing patients to seamlessly switch to self-administered maintenance therapy.

Zymfentra Gains Momentum in the U.S.

Zymfentra, the U.S. brand name for Remsima SC, has also entered a rapid growth trajectory.

Zymfentra generated 99.5 billion won in U.S. sales during the first half of the year, representing a 176.4% year-over-year surge. Celltrion is leveraging its established European momentum to expand its foothold in the United States, the world’s largest pharmaceutical market.

Supported by expanded insurance reimbursement coverage and an established distribution network, Celltrion is accelerating targeted marketing campaigns aimed at healthcare providers and patients. The company plans to sustain revenue momentum by strengthening product awareness and physician prescribing preference.

Expanding to Japan and Latin America to Reach 1 Trillion Won Goal

Celltrion is preparing to roll out Remsima SC in additional key global markets. The company plans to launch the product in Japan—Asia’s largest pharmaceutical market—in 2027, while progressively expanding market coverage across Latin America in accordance with local regulatory approvals.

“With robust growth in Europe and surging sales of Zymfentra in the U.S., our revenue drivers are becoming increasingly diversified,” a Celltrion official said. “By expanding prescriptions in established markets and executing launches in new regions without disruption, we will build the Remsima SC franchise into a 1 trillion won-a-year blockbuster medication.”
