Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital's Department of Respiratory and Allergy Medicine announced on the 30th that it has obtained the 'International Urticaria Excellence Center (UCARE)' certification, organized by the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology.
This is the third certification in the country, proving that Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital possesses world-class expertise in the field of urticaria treatment and research.
UCARE is a global network aimed at improving the quality of urticaria care and sharing knowledge. Institutions that obtain certification will engage with over 200 leading medical institutions worldwide, sharing the latest treatment methods and playing a key role in leading guidelines.
To be recognized as a UCARE center, institutions must meet stringent evaluation criteria across a total of 32 items, including infrastructure, quality of care, and research achievements. A urticaria specialist and dedicated nurses must be present, and a professional care environment with inpatient facilities capable of responding immediately to emergencies for severe patients is essential.
Additionally, during patient care, adherence to international standard urticaria treatment guidelines is required, along with a systematic diagnostic system that quantitatively monitors the patient's condition and quality of life through standardized tools. Furthermore, institutions must demonstrate continuous research and educational capabilities by publishing a certain number of academic papers annually and participating in clinical trials to receive certification.
Professor Choi Jung-hee of Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital's Department of Respiratory and Allergy Medicine stated, "This certification objectively recognizes that our hospital provides the best care for urticaria patients in accordance with international standards," and added, "We will continue to do our best to provide precise customized treatment for patients suffering from urticaria."
